How to put on a disposable diaper

When putting a diaper on your baby, be sure to wrap the body gently and closely. The aim is to prevent leaks, and provide comfort and safety. The key to the best fit is, after dressing the diaper, you can slip one finger between the diaper and baby’s waist.

With a little practice and a few tips, changing your baby’s diaper is easy to do. Once you get the knack, you will be able to change diapers with ease.

  1. Make sure that the standing gathers are actually standing. Raise them using your fingers.
  2. Extend your baby’s legs to receive the diaper. Place the diaper on, with the gathers stretched. Fasten the tapes at a position where one finger can fit between the diaper and your baby’s waist.
  3. Pull the non-stick tabs off the adhesive tape. Press down on the tapes and gently pull the bottom of the tapes outward.
  4. Pull the diaper up and check whether the standing gathers fit snuggly around the legs, and you’re done!

Please read instructions on the outer packaging, before using any diaper product.

Leg openings

Are the frills around the legs getting inside the diaper?

Urine can leak where the internal standing gathers are not raised. In this case, slip your finger between the baby’s skin and the gathers to raise the gathers. If there is a wide gap that cannot be adjusted with tape, it is time to choose a smaller size.

For a baby boy, urine tends to flow along the gathers and leak, if his penis is facing sideways. Place his penis in a downward position before fitting the diaper. Pull up the diaper and refasten the tape.
